Ayan Mukerji on casting for Brahmastra Part One: Shiva

Love and light have been the theme for the longest time with a movie like Brahmastra making its way to the big screens. The first part of the franchise has performed well at the box office and it is time to witness the magic again on our OTT screens. Brahmastra is releasing on OTT on 4th November 2022 and this calls for a second chance to enjoy this larger-than-life film from the comfort of our homes in our preferred languages – Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

The cast which boasts of talents like Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy was truly as star-studded as it can get. Shedding some light on the casting, director Ayan Mukerji said, “When we started writing the characters, I was very clear about who they were and what I wanted them to represent. And I got very lucky, that some of the best talent in the country – not only liked those characters but supported the overall vision of the project and what we are trying to create. I am very grateful to the entire cast for that support. It has made Brahmāstra what it is today!”

It is a well-known fact that Ayan and Ranbir are the best of friends and share a great camaraderie. Sharing insight on the working relationship they have and how it was to have him in the lead of Brahmastra, the director said, “He has been a true partner in this journey. He was the first person I told when the idea came to me. Outside the film, and contributing as an actor, and a producer on Brahmāstra, he is family. Someone who will always support me. Ranbir’s involvement is paramount! In my work, in my life, in my career, and definitely in Brahmāstra and its journey ahead,” he said.

The film has been praised in heaps and bounds for the spectacular performances delivered by the entire cast. Time will tell how it fares on OTT platforms too as it has already achieved a momentous feat on the big screen.
