Borderlands 3 came out back in 2020. The game has so far been available on multiple different platforms but the Switch version was missing. But, it seems like a Nintendo Switch port is on its way thanks to it being rated for Switch by a European rating board.
Borderlands 3 for Nintendo Switch
The rating can be seen on the European rating board PEGI. The listing rates the main game, first released in 2020, as well as a huge litany of DLC expansions, including Bounty of Blood, Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot, Guns, Love, and Tentacles, and both the Designer and Director’s Cut.
Although the game has been rated it should be noted that there has been no official word from the developers 2K, themselves. So it is better to take this information with a grain of salt. But even then, the most intriguing part is the release date. According to the rating board, the game is supposed to release today December 1, 2022. So, if it is indeed true, we could be just hours away from the port without even an official announcement.
How Can 2K Make the Port Work?
It is common knowledge that Borderlands 3 is a very graphics-intensive game. Even if you have decent hardware on a PC, it is very likely that you will face some issues in performance. Also, the Nintendo Switch at this point is about 5 years old and is badly in need of a refresh. The performance of some latest titles is a great embodiment of that.
So, with Borderlands 3 being so difficult to run and the Switch not strong enough, it will be really interesting to see how Nintendo optimizes the game. Of course, they could take an easier route and make it a cloud game. But that will be seen if the port is indeed incoming. We will be sure to keep you updated so stay tuned.
