Perth-based startup Personr has announced the launch of a new platform set to solve the Australian cyber-breach crisis by aiding businesses in verifying and storing data while complying with regulations.

The regtech startup was founded by two young entrepreneurs after going through identity theft themselves. After dealing with the consequences, they set out to offer identity verification and compliance services to assist businesses in following the ever-changing legislations.

The platform, Personr Enterprise, will help prevent breaches that have been in the news by offering businesses a secure fix to their security issues.

Personr co-founder and chief executive officer Charlie Westerman believes the public should be better protected from cyber breaches and hopes the platform can provide a form of assistance for all businesses.

“We’re seeing a new breach almost every week in the news. Aussies don’t deserve that and companies need to understand their obligations to data protection, it’s not hard and our platform helps them with that,” Charlie said.

The companies that have been breached recently do what they do best within their industry, and it is clear they now need someone to look after their data for them, and that’s what we do best.

The company launched an early access to the platform for consumers on Monday, and is excited to see where the future of cyber-security will go.

“Identity theft is one of the worst things an individual can go through, the early access launch of Personr Enterprise means we’re one step closer in assisting companies to protect personally identifiable information at the highest level,” Charlie said.

“The government has recently increased the fines for data breaches, which shows they aren’t messing around anymore – regardless of the size of the business.”
