“I had to do everything I could to protect my family,” says Prince Harry in the first teaser trailer of an upcoming Netflix documentary about him and wife Meghan Markle.
Harry & Meghan has long been expected at Netflix, and today has been given its official series announcement, along with a minute-long trailer and an artwork reveal. The show will run to six parts and is from Story Syndicate Production in association with the royal couple’s Archewell Productions and Diamond Docs.
Netflix says Harry & Meghan will see the Duke and Duchess of Sussex “share the other side of their high-profile love story,” adding: “Across six episodes, the series explores the clandestine days of their early courtship and the challenges that led to them feeling forced to step back from their full-time roles in the institution.”
The documentary unofficially had been slated to stream on Netflix in December following the November 9 launch of The Crown but as Deadline revealed at the time was moved back after Season 5 of the streamer’s royal drama The Crown was hit by criticism. Today’s reveal notes the series is “coming soon.”
Two-time Academy Award-nominated and Emmy-winning director Liz Garbus is directing.
Erica Sashin, Mark Monroe, Dan Cogan, Liz Garbus, Ben Browning, Chanel Pysnik, Jon Bardin, Mala Chapple and Angus Wall are executive producers.
