Finnish firm Remedy Entertainment has once again teamed up with 505 Games for a sequel to 2019’s Control.
The deal will sees the duo not only agree to co-publish the title, but also co-develop it. Control 2’s budget for development is €50 million, roughly double the €20 million-to-€30 million that it cost to make the original Control. The 2019 original has shifted over three million copies to date.
“I’m now proud to confirm that the bigger-budget Control game, also known as Codename Heron, is Control 2, a full-blown sequel to our award-winning game Control,” Remedy CEO Tero Virtala (pictured) said.
The co-CEOs of 505 Games parent firm Digital Bros, Rami and Raffi Galante, added: “We are excited to deepen our cooperation with Remedy and continue the success story of Control together. Since its launch in 2019, Control has sold over 3 million copies.
“Control is the biggest investment 505 Games has ever made, so it has a special place in our hearts. We are grateful to the whole player community that has made Control such a long-lasting and loved game, and are even more excited to bring out Control 2.”
