Sonic Frontiers Post-Launch Support To Include New Characters & Story Content

SEGA has plans to support Sonic Frontiers well into 2023 with new story content and characters, the studio announced this week.

The Blue Blur’s open world adventure will receive three DLCs next year, with the first one currently planned to feature a photo mode, juke box and new challenge modes. Following this will be another DLC drop featuring ‘Sonic’s Birthday,’ an open zone challenge and additional Koko.

The third Sonic Frontiers DLC will feature new story content and playable characters, although at this point we don’t know who exactly will be joining the roster.

Sonic Frontiers was released on November 8, 2022 for PS4, PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. You can read our full review here. Sonic Team’s Takashi Iizuka recently said that Sonic Frontiers acts as a new foundation for future instalments in the venerable platforming franchise.

Sonic the Hedgehog celebrated his 30th birthday last year, and Sega launched both Sonic Frontiers and Sonic Origins to mark the occasion. You can read our full review of Sonic Origins here.
