Street Fighter 6 Has Been Rated In Korea

Get your Hadoukens ready because Street Fighter 6 just got rated in Korea, implying that it’s nearing the end of development and will likely get a release date soon.

Back in October, Capcom let a select number of players take part in a closed beta for Street Fighter 6, which had a lot of fans thinking that the game must be nearing the end of its development. This theory was then given some credence when Capcom decided to just show off the game’s whole roster in an intro video. With nothing to hide, it certainly seemed like Street Fighter 6’s development was in a good place.

Now there’s even more reason to believe that Street Fighter 6 will be an early 2023 release, as the game just got an age rating from the South Korea Rating and Administration Committee. As shared on ResetEra by Angie and discovered by Twitter user xenosaga 7, the rating board gave Street Fighter 6 an age rating of 15 for its use of violence, drinking, and sexual content.

Although the age rating and the contents of the game aren’t surprising at all (it’s a fighter, of course it’s going to have violence), Street Fighter 6 getting rated by Korea now implies that it’s nearing the end of development and is now being submitted to ratings boards for review. Korea almost always releases its rating for games much earlier than anyone else, but it still shows that development is near the finish line overall.

Interestingly, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom also got rated by Korea earlier this month, and that already has a set release date of May 2023. That could mean that Street Fighter 6 is aiming for the same sort of release window, or at least thereabouts.

With The Game Awards just around the corner, it’s possible that we’ll get some kind of release date announcement there. Street Fighter 6 is almost guaranteed to have some presence there as it’s been at every event since its reveal, so if a release date isn’t shown then we’d bet on a few character reveal trailers at least.
